Interpersonal written corrective feedback: A case study of reading log feedback

Written corrective feedback (WCF) has been given considerable attention in the past few decades English as a Foreign Language (EFL) writing. However, studies have focused on students’ written works and examined how their writing performance change response to teachers’ comments. This paucity of data from actual is problematic. Accordingly, this study scrutinized eight secondary school reading log entries EFL teacher provided. Data were also collected semi-structured interviews with students teacher. Findings indicate that combination direct error correction in-text mitigation strategies end comments could lead effective integration interpersonality into WCF. Specifically, such using suggestions, expectation, encouragement lieu criticism contributed constructive feedback. Demonstrated effects include lengthened text, decreased grammar mistakes, enriched content, increased exam marks for Meanwhile, teacher-student relationship was reported improved due application interpersonal Practical implications findings specific teachers adopt effect WCF thus enhanced student works.
